People often think that having Eyelash Extension will damage their natural lashes. But under our care, correct application and high quality lightweight extensions, we guarantee that "you have nothing to worry about".
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent lashes that are hand-glued on top of your natural lashes to make them appear longer, thicker, darker and fuller. The goal of lash extensions is to give the eyes a made-up appearance without the use of mascara or other eye makeup. Unlike strip lashes, lash extensions are glued on individually to your natural lash, so they're super customisable and actually look real.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions are individual fibers that are attached to each of your natural lashes, one at a time.
When we take good care of the eyelash extension by keeping them clean from heavy eye make-up. and "shampoo" them regularly, they can last up to 4-6 weeks. Our clients often tell us that their lash extension always last longer than they expected
As our natural lashes also have a hair-cycle, they naturally fall out, you can expect to lose about 2-7 each day. In this case, refills are required every 2-3 weeks to keep them in-shaped, nice and full.
Do eyelash extensions ruin your eyelashes?
If you book to get your Eyelash Extension done at Pivy's Clinic, the answer to this question is NO. Our highly-trained Master Lash Artists with over 7 years of experience will guarantee to give you the most light weight, fluffy extension while keeping your natural lash growth healthily.
However, keeping the lash line cleaned is also very important for our natural lashes to stay healthy. By wearing minimal eye make-up and shampooing our lashes a few times a week.
Usually, it only takes a few bad applications and improper care to cause long-term lash damage to occur as a result. We do see this time and time again when clients first come to us. They have very patchy natural lashes and after being with us for the first time they become our long-time client for over 7 years.
How do you know what size eyelash extensions to get?
Many of us like to have super long and full looking eyelash extensions but that doesn’t mean our natural lashes can support them. Not to mention, we need to customise the length and shape to suit our eyes.
Our Master Artists will recommend the type of extensions you should get, we will also customise the length to create a set of extensions that are suitable to the strength of your natural lashes.
Wearing lashes that are too long or too thick for your natural lashes can actually cause damage in the long run, so we need to make sure your extensions aren’t too much longer or thicker than your natural lashes.
Caring for eyelash extensions
As we have mentioned before, taking care of your eyelash extensions is very important. It helps extension last longer, and our natural lashes will continue to grow healthily. To ensure the longevity of your lash extensions, it’s best to use the following care practices:
1. Purchase our Soap-Free lash Shampoo, it comes with a lash brush that you can use to clean your extension 3-4 times a week or every day if you are someone who is wearing eye-shadow everyday.
2. Use caution when washing your face, especially around the eye area. Any movement of the lashes can cause them to get tangled or fall out.
3. Avoid using oil-based cleansers, makeup removers or other facial products. Oil will cause the lash glue to break down. Micellar water is recommended for make-up removal.
4. Do not use mascara with eyelash extensions, especially waterproof mascara. Removing the product from the lashes will tug on them and cause them to fall out prematurely.
5. Use the lash brush provided at your lash appointment to brush your lashes 2-3 times a day, especially after washing your face to keep them in-shaped and stay fluffy.
6. Avoid letting water from the shower fall directly onto your face, as the water pressure can cause the extensions to loosen.
7. Do not rub your eyes with a towel or sleep in a way where your pillow presses on the eyes.
Please be advised that practicing these care techniques does not guarantee your lash extensions will last longer than the average lifespan or protect your natural lashes from breakage. They just increase the likelihood of a long, successful, beautiful lashes.
